BFS Goes ‘Around the World’

‘Around the World’ week was a fun way to introduce our BFS campers to the histories and cultures from places both in and outside of New York City.

From Brazil, to Africa, through Egypt and into Asia, and even into old New York, the boys and girls immersed themselves in the rich traditions and customs from across the globe.

Last week was “Around the World’ week. We went on a trip to the Tenement Museum and saw how back in the 1865’s immigrants lived in a tenement house. A tenement is a five story building with four apartments on each floor where a lot of people live. It was very fun just witnessing how the building structure was like and what people did and used for their daily lives. My other favorite day was when we were split into three groups either working on Ancient Egypt with hieroglyphics, China with the Chinese drums and India with the henna designs.
