Coalition for the Homeless Announces Patrick Markee as Deputy Executive Director for Advocacy

NEW YORK – The Coalition for the Homeless announced that Patrick Markee, who has long served as Senior Policy Analyst, has taken the position of Deputy Executive Director for Advocacy effective July 18th. Mary Brosnahan, President & CEO at the Coalition, underscored Patrick’s tremendous work at the organization.

“The Coalition has been at the forefront of shaping public debate around the issue of mass homelessness since its inception,” said Ms. Brosnahan. “Patrick has played an invaluable role in advancing housing-based solutions to this modern-day tragedy. For over 15 years he’s been the backbone of our advocacy efforts and I’m pleased he will be taking on this leadership role at the Coalition.”

“It is a tremendous honor to work with Mary Brosnahan and the amazing team at the Coalition – and most of all to have the chance to serve homeless New Yorkers who struggle every day against overwhelming challenges,” said Patrick Markee. “As New York City continues to confront record homelessness, I look forward to playing this greater role in forging real solutions to this worsening crisis.”

“Patrick joined the Coalition in 1995 and first worked as a client advocate,” remarked Ms. Brosnahan. “Markee’s breadth of experience both on the frontlines and through his policy work has made a singular mark on the public policy map of New York City. Patrick’s annualState of the Homeless reports provide the most cogent and compelling analysis of homelessness, as well as a clarion call to action. With Patrick at the helm of our Advocacy Department, the Coalition has become the definitive source for information about – and real solutions to – homelessness in New York City.”
