February 25, 2014 Following today’s announcement that The Legal Aid Society attorney Steve Banks would become the new Commissioner of the New York City Human Resources Administration, the Coalition’s President and CEO Mary Brosnahan released the following statement: “Steve Banks has been a tireless friend to and fierce advocate for New York City’s most vulnerable citizens for decades. In tapping Banks for HRA Commissioner, Mayor de Blasio will have one of the great legal minds of a generation and a potent agent of change. In one fell swoop, the mayor is signaling the end of ‘business as usual’ at an agency long considered an afterthought by his two predecessors.”
