De Blasio to Commit $30M to Address Growing Homeless Student Population

Mayor Bill de Blasio will announce steps to tackle the city’s large and growing homeless student population on Tuesday, with a $30 million commitment to build health centers in schools with large numbers of homeless students and to provide new supports to children living in the city’s homeless shelters.

De Blasio will announce a $19.5 million capital investment to build school-based health centers at elementary schools with at least 50 students living in homeless shelters. Those schools will be situated on campuses with at least 1,000 students.
