Sandra's Story

After repeated robberies at her shelter placement, 60-year-old Sandra opted for life on the streets. Despite her heart condition, the City illegally revoked her Medicaid and public assistance benefits.

With the help of the Coalition's Crisis Intervention Department, Sandra's Medicaid and public assistance were restored so she could be treated in a hospital for her heart condition.

Finally the Coalition secured a Section 8 housing voucher for Sandra so she can afford to live in a real apartment.
