Step Up For Homeless, Gov

Homelessness is a solvable issue — and we know for a fact that supportive housing is the best and most cost-effective solution to our homeless crisis. On Wednesday, Mayor de Blasio showed bold leadership by announcing a plan to invest in this solution on an unprecedented scale. As we head into the harsh cold months of winter, we desperately need that same leadership from Gov. Cuomo. I know that all New Yorkers join me in asking the governor to match de Blasio’s commitment — unit for unit — to build a total of 30,000 units of supportive housing here in New York City. We cannot solve homelessness in this city without the full partnership of the state. Failure is simply not an option: The time to act is now.
