Sponsor Spotlight: AIG: On the Van, In the Field, and Beyond!

At the Coalition, we’re lucky to have many amazing sponsors that help us ameliorate the suffering of homeless men, women and children everyday. One of our biggest supporters, AIG, has been a Premiere Corporate Sponsor for three years in a row, providing 90,000 meals to homeless men, women and children through our Grand Central Food Program and ensuring that homeless girls and boys have an amazing summer at Camp Homeward Bound.

Twice a month, AIG volunteers assist our GCFP staff in distributing food to hungry and homeless New Yorkers on the streets of the city. They hand out hearty stew, bread, fruit, milk and water – as well as warm coats, socks and other necessities when available. The volunteers’ commitment, compassion and enthusiasm are deeply appreciated by the all of the homeless men and women they help.

AIG first got involved with the Coalition by participating in our annual Project Back to School and Holiday Toy Drives in 2011, collecting donations and sorting and packing backpacks with school supplies. In 2012 AIG employees started an annual tradition of volunteering at our “camp clean-up day” at Camp Homeward Bound in Harriman State Park. They sweep, paint and clean up the campsite so that 300 homeless boys and girls can enjoy a wonderful summer of swimming, biking, friends and fun away from the stifling shelter system. This year was no exception, as nearly 70 AIG volunteers drove up to Camp in early June to set up tents and make minor repairs around the campsite.
