Urge State Leaders to Fund Supportive Housing

Last week, Governor Cuomo took a big step toward releasing critical funding for supportive housing by directing the New York State Division of the Budget to execute a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to release $2 billion for supportive and affordable housing. This money, which was allocated in the budget this past spring, will provide most of the funding necessary to create the first 6,000 units of the Governor’s 20,000-unit supportive housing pledge. However, the full execution of the MOU must be done by all three legislative leaders together: Governor Cuomo, Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, and Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan.

Five months after the initial allocation, 80,000 homeless New Yorkers across the state await action. Help us urge the Governor and Legislature to agree on a final MOU to release all of the money for desperately needed supportive and affordable housing for homeless New Yorkers.
