All DHS shelter intake sites have returned to their original locations. View the list here.

The Coalition for the Homeless is open and our programs are running. If you are in need of Crisis services, please come to our office to speak with one of our Crisis Intervention Counselors. Our walk-in hours begin at 9am Monday – Friday. We see a limited number of clients on a first come, first serve basis, so it is advised to get here before 9am. We are located at 129 Fulton Street, on the corner of Nassau Street. The nearest subway stop is Fulton Street.

Our Grand Central Food Vans are continuing to deliver hot meals throughout Manhattan and the Bronx. See the list of stops here.

The Legal Aid Society is staffing an Emergency Assistance Helpline at 1-888-663-6880 to assist with immediate needs such as food, clothing, housing, and health care. Please call between 10am and 3pm. Also download a fact sheet here.

NYC Housing Recovery Portal
If you are a NYC resident displaced by Hurricane Sandy, you can learn about housing options and register with the City of New York for help in finding interim or long-term housing by calling 212-863-5710.

You can also visit the website and create an account to learn about short- and long-term housing options. After reviewing the housing options available through NYC Housing Recovery Portal, those New Yorkers who would like further assistance from the City to find housing will be able to complete a full application on the site.

The majority of the units the City has pooled are income-restricted units (i.e. primarily for low- and moderate-income households). The City is continuing to identify other housing units as well.
