Youth Services

One thing the Coalition learned early in its work is that children are particularly affected by the overwhelming stress of homelessness. Those living in shelters often suffer from inadequate education and from emotional upheavals caused by the inconsistency and instability of their worlds.

Through its Youth Services program, Coalition for the Homeless aims to break this cycle of poverty and provide homeless youth with tools to overcome the obstacles they face.  The Youth Services program serves more than 400 homeless children who reside in temporary housing facilities each year. We offer these children a safe and consistent space to develop friendships, to learn and explore, and to reach their potentials.

The Youth Services program serves homeless children through two programs, Camp Homeward Bound and Bound for Success.

Bound for Success

The Coalition's Bound for Success Program provides homeless children with a respite from their chaotic lives by giving them the opportunity to learn and play in a safe, nurturing environment within the shelters. The Bound for Success After School programming offers a safe and structured environment for the children to complete their homework, receive tutoring help, and make friends. The Summer Day Camp offers children living in the shelters the chance to have a fun filled and educational summer.
