Members of the client advisory group

The Community Leadership Collective (“CLC”) at the Coalition for the Homeless is a space for current and formerly homeless New Yorkers to share resources and advocate for change.

People who are currently homeless or previously homeless can join any of our committees. Each committee meets once per month. CLC members also get access to advocacy, training, and educational opportunities. Join us to be a part of the fight to end mass homelessness.

  • Community Advisory Group (CAG). A peer support and activism group led by homeless individuals that focuses on peer support and education. This is a space where homeless New Yorkers can discuss issues happening in shelters and share resources. We also have practical workshops throughout the year to help members find paths out of homelessness.
  • Shelter Nutrition Advocacy Committee (SNAC). Advocates to improve the quality of food in shelters. This group focuses on supporting legislation and changes to improve the quality of food.
  • Housing Committee. Advocates for more affordable housing for homeless people. Advocacy includes expanding housing vouchers, access to Wi-Fi in shelters, and urging the City to build more affordable housing units for homeless and low-income New Yorkers.
  • Colectivo de Liderazgo Comunitario. A Spanish-speaking community group. Open to all currently and formerly homeless Spanish-speakers, the group focuses on peer support, education, and advocacy.

We provide food, transportation, and community for every event we host. Come learn about the best ways to get support and to be part of changing the system. Meetings are weekly at 5pm.
