NYC hotels ‘lining up’ to take homeless during coronavirus crisis: advocate

New York City’s hoteliers — faced with empty rooms and looming tax bills — are ready and willing to help house the homeless during the coronavirus crisis, an industry spokesman told the Daily News.

The city’s not yet ready to expand its current hotel placement program to include all the homeless, citing safety and health concerns. But it could provide relief for those people sheltering in the subways and for the hotel owners desperate for a cash infusion, according to Vijay Dandapani, president of the Hotel Association of New York City.
