Coalition for the Homeless Statement on the Build Back Better Act

NEW YORK, NY — The following statement from Coalition for the Homeless was released today as Congressional leaders negotiate the size and scope of the Build Back Better Act, which includes housing investments such as rental assistance targeted to serve America’s lowest-income households.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly worsened our nation’s affordable housing crisis, but Congress has an unprecedented opportunity to bring a better start to so many struggling Americans by prioritizing housing investments in the Build Back Better Act. By including $90 billion to expand rental assistance, $80 billion to preserve public housing, and $37 billion for the Housing Trust Fund, Congress can pave the way for housing stability and help drive a more equitable recovery,” said Jacquelyn Simone, Senior Policy Analyst at Coalition for the Homeless.
