Internet is not a luxury, it’s a right! In June, Albany passed A. 1755 / S. 8026 requiring every shelter in New York State to have Wi-Fi. The funding is confirmed and the Legislature has acted. Empire State Development has committed up to $20 million to bring internet access to shelters statewide, and both houses of the Legislature have passed the WiFi for Homeless bill. Governor Hochul’s signature is the final step to making reliable, privacy-protecting connectivity the law in New York.
