This Program Could Boost the Fight Against Homelessness

The growth in New York’s homeless population is straining our ability to provide effective services. According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, from 2011-2018 our homeless population increased nearly 45 percent, leaving many localities little choice but to focus almost entirely on emergency sheltering. The only solution is to address the causes of homelessness and the related challenges involving those with severe mental illnesses and other disabilities.
