Advocates Charge NYPD Cops Swoop in to Bust Homeless Shelter Residents on Old Warrants

Homeless advocates slammed the NYPD’s sweeps of homeless shelters to nab residents with open arrest warrants.

Advocates charge that at least seven times this year, cops have showed up at shelters to make arrests.

“It is a waste of time. It is a waste of police activity. It is a waste of taxpayers’ money,” said Griffin Kinard, 31, who said he’s been arrested three times in shelter sweeps for marijuana possession, only to be released shortly thereafter.
