City’s Homeless Families Live Amongst Rodents, Roaches and Mold

A 54-page report put together by New York City’s Department of Investigation highlights deplorable living conditions in some of our city’s shelters.

The DOI sent its own team of investigators out to 25 different shelters over the course of a year and their findings were unsafe, unhealthy and just plain disgusting in some cases. Dead mice, rats, roaches coming in through cracks, exposed pipes, water damage, and mold were just some of the issues investigators uncovered
