A Crucial Strategy to End the Homelessness Crisis

Homelessness in New York has received much attention from public officials in recent weeks. But there has been frustratingly little focus on solutions that have been proven to work.

It’s true that we have a crisis on our hands: nearly 80,000 people in our state are homeless. That’s one out of every seven homeless Americans.

We have a proven solution for addressing the problem of chronic homelessness: permanent supportive housing, which combines affordable housing with on-site services for people with the highest barriers to housing, like mental illness or addiction.
