Homeless Advocates’ Report Faults State and City

The Coalition for the Homeless released a report Thursday that called for the state and city to do more to fight record levels of homelessness and laid out a series of recommendations it says could decrease homelessness by 85 percent by the end of 2019.

There were a record number of homeless families in New York City in 2014, according to the report, which noted that on an average night last year, more than 60,000 people, including 25,000 children, were in shelters. This is an increase of 14 percent since 2013 and 66 percent since 2005.
