Homeless Mom in Queens Shelter Talks Challenges of Finding a Stable Place to Live With Daughter

Jessica Pendergrass huddled in the wind with her 12-year-old daughter, her eyes red from crying as they waited for a place to spend the night.

“I’m homeless, me and my daughter,” said Pendergass – like 116,000 other New Yorkers including 42,000 children who sought shelter last year, according to a new Coalition for the Homeless Report.
