Over 30,000 Poor New Yorkers Granted Permanent Housing in Just Two Years Through City’s Rental Assistance Programs

Over 30,000 poor New Yorkers — the vast majority of whom were living in the shelter system — have been given permanent housing through the city’s rental assistance programs, according to new statistics from the Department of Homeless Services.

In just over two years, the Living In Communities (LINC) and City Family Eviction Prevention Subsidy (CFEGS) found placements for 10,242 households, which included 30,129 people, officials said.
