Schneiderman to Announce Crackdown on Brokers Who Engage in Income Discrimination

Two brokerage firms discriminated against prospective New York City tenants who were using rental assistance vouchers and have agreed to alter their practices, state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman will announce on Thursday.

Through undercover phone calls from staffers pretending to be New Yorkers looking for housing, Schneiderman’s office says it discovered that Lori & Associates LI Realty Inc. and Rapid Realty Bedford Stuyvesant would not help applicants who receive rental assistance vouchers from the city.
